What is new in iLok License Manager version 5.9?

Updating to version 5.9.x is not a required update; however, some iLok-protected software may require that you use a version of 2.5.0 or greater. For Macintosh users, this update requires a minimum of macOS v10.12 (Sierra). Please download the latest version from the iLok License Manager page of ilok.com.

Version 5.9.0:

  • License Support now adds information to service requests to aid performance and reliability.
  • Improved performance when the Activation services are under heavy load.
  • Improved error alerts when there are problems with the installed License Support service.
  • Improved error message in iLok License Manager when the background service is not available.
  • Reworded error messages to make them less distressing.
  • Improved error messages when trials cannot be activated in iLok License Manager and the Activation Experience.
  • In iLok License Manager, added the ability to report a machine as unusable even if it has only trials activated to it.
What is new in iLok License Manager version 5.8?

Updating to version 5.8.x is not a required update; however, some iLok-protected software may require that you use a version of 2.5.0 or greater. Version 5.8.1:

  • Clear button on Preferences Dialog’s Account tab in iLok License Manager is functional again.

Version 5.8.0:

  • Valid locations value for subscriptions when not signed in logged as warning instead of error in iLok License Manager.
  • Avoid fetching offline locations if timed licenses expire while you are signed into your account in iLok License Manager.
  • Updated a few default links in iLok License Manager to use the the updated iLok help website.
  • In iLok License Manager, if an error occurs while a dialog is already open, the error dialog should be shown on top of the existing dialog.
  • In iLok License Manager, deactivation option should be disabled for an anonymous activation on the local machine.
  • In iLok License Manager, offline locations are now visible after you switch accounts.
What is new in iLok License Manager version 5.7?

Updating to version 5.7.x is not a required update; however, some iLok-protected software may require that you use a version of 2.5.0 or greater. Version 5.7.1:

  • Updated the Windows APIs used for HTTP connections to improve compatibility with modern Windows versions.

Version 5.7.0:

  • Improved stability for certain iLok-licensed products.
  • In iLok License Manager, data downloaded from the server for large accounts is now saved correctly.
  • The Windows installer will now error if an attempt is made to install on the unsupported ARM64 platform.
What is new in iLok License Manager version 5.6?

Updating to version 5.6.x is not a required update; however, some iLok-protected software may require that you use a version of 2.5.0 or greater. Version 5.6.5 (macOS only):

  • Fixed a crash that could happen on macOS when quitting applications that have loaded protected plugins.

Version 5.6.4 (macOS only):

  • Improved error messages in the Activation Experience when you are unable to connect to the server because of internet issues.
  • PACE License Support and SDK installers for Mac now show iLok License Manager in the Login Items on MacOS Ventura.
  • For large accounts, download account data file from server if cached data is not present on the local machine. This will prevent error messages seen if you are logging in for the first time from a machine or after deleting the locally cached account data.
  • Fixed an obscure bug during transfer authentication in iLok License Manager.

Version 5.6.3:

  • Fixed stability issues during plugin scan operations on Windows.

Version 5.6.2:

  • Fixed Windows License Support not updating Qt DLLs and openssl libs with its 64-bit versions.
  • Buttons in iLok License Manger’s License Details view now show the correct state.
  • Surrender update deliveries that deliver revoked licenses will not be shown in the All Licenses view in iLok License Manager.
  • In iLok License Manager, improved handling of surrender update deliveries containing multiple licenses to surrender and some licenses are not found in the account.
  • Fixed License Support stability issues during shut down.
  • Fixed a crash or early exit when running with an account whose name contains non-ASCII characters on Windows.

Version 5.6.1:

  • Improved the error message shown when attempting to log into deleted accounts.

Version 5.6.0:

  • Removed support for 32-bit Windows operating systems. Note that legacy versions that support 32-bit Windows are still available.
  • Added support for the ⌘+M (macOS) and ⊞ Win+M (Windows) shortcuts to minimize the window.
  • Improved formatting for error dialog shown when there’s a communication problem with iLok USB.
  • Improved layout of components displaying different categories of licenses (transfer allowed, transfer with publisher approval, no transfer) on multiple transfer dialogs.
  • Avoid unnecessary calls for offline iLok USBs.
  • Connect option will be enabled after disconnecting from a private iLok server.
  • Tweaks to activation reset error messages for inaccessible machines.
  • Fixed an error when using Windows “Safely Remove Hardware” to eject an iLok USB.
    • Note that installing on systems prior to Windows 10, we install a legacy Authenticode-signed version of the iLok Driver without this fix.
    • This also means that the Windows Update for SHA256 support must be installed on systems earlier than Windows 10.
What is new in iLok License Manager version 5.5?

Updating to version 5.5.x is not a required update; however, some iLok-protected software may require that you use a version of 2.5.0 or greater. Version 5.5.0:

  • Added Apple Silicon native binary support.
  • Added Ability to report an offline machine as unusable via Machine Details view or the context menu. Users can now initiate the Machine Reset process themselves, without needing to start a support ticket with a publisher.
  • The ILok License Server will now automatically try to contact the PACE services to refresh the Lost Or Stolen license to prevent this license from expiring.
  • Improved formatting of error messages containing links.
  • Updated and improved our macOS License support uninstaller application.
  • Fixed Support installation on macOS systems where /usr/local/bin is incorrectly locked down.
What is new in iLok License Manager version 5.4?

Version 5.4.1:

  • Improved message when server is unavailable in the iLok License Manager.

Version 5.4.0:

  • Improved user interface behavior when a license is removed after a protected product has been loaded.
  • Search strings are persisted across views in the iLok License Manager.
  • Better error handling in iLok Server code in the iLok License Manager.
  • Hide and Show context menus now consistent with Hide and Show buttons in the License Details view.
  • Worked around stability problems on macOS 10.8 and 10.9 systems introduced by recent Apple development tools.
  • In the Activation Experience, unregistered iLok USBs will be seen on the Locations screen and can be registered to your iLok account if you select it as the activation location.
What is new in iLok License Manager version 5.3?

Updating to version 5.3.x is not a required update; however, some iLok-protected software may require that you use a version of 2.5.0 or greater. Version 5.3.3:

  • In iLok License Manager, clicking Activate, Deactivate or Transfer buttons when not signed in no longer results in a crash.

Version 5.3.2:

  • If the iLok License Manager has been left running for a long time and you close all cloud sessions, it no longer results in a session not valid error.

Version 5.3.1:

  • Minor UI improvements for the iLok Cloud.
  • Fixed crash during surrender update if there are no choices for one of the licenses that need to be surrendered.
  • Fixed an obscure crash when signing in.

Version 5.3.0:

  • Notifications related to services such as scheduled maintenance, outages etc will be shown above the licenses list in the iLok License Manager.
  • Significant improvements to iLok Cloud performance. If you use the iLok Cloud, please update to this version.
  • Large accounts will see a significant improvement in the time it takes to sign in for the first time using iLok License Manager.
  • Tweaked message shown to user in the iLok License Manager when they try to operate on an offline machine location.
  • Icons for subscription licenses will be updated while the iLok License Manager is running.
  • Show an error message when the user is trying to transfer licenses that have been in their account for less than 90 days or if the account itself is less than 90 days old.
  • Offer to open or move an iLok Cloud session to the machine if the subscription being refreshed is on an offline iLok Cloud location.
  • Clicking Cancel on the Close All Guest Cloud Sessions dialog in the iLok License Manager now works.
  • Fixed an issue where the Activation Experience mistakenly reports an expired subscription for an unavailable or unauthorized cloud license.
  • Search for cloud licenses in the iLok License Manager while doing a subscription refresh even if local subscription licenses are found.
  • Fixed bug where refreshing a subscription license on a cloud didn’t show any dialog in the iLok License Manager.
  • Fixed truncation of the location information text on the Activation dialog in the iLok License Manager.
  • On Windows, fixed problem with exporting iLok Server config to a file.
What is new in iLok License Manager version 5.2?

Updating to version 5.2.x is not a required update; however, some iLok-protected software may require that you use a version of 2.5.0 or greater. Version 5.2.1:

  • Improved user experience in the Activation Experience if the local cached license data gets deleted and a managed cloud session is open
  • The Activation Experience will now allow a timed license, having number of days license period, to be activated to an automatic cloud session without switching the cloud mode
  • Fixed a few different flavors of crashes seen by large account holders
  • Synchronize menu for an iLok USB is now available only if you are signed in
  • Locked group subscription icons now correct if there are multiple activations and one of them is expired

Version 5.2.0:

  • Dialog shown after a subscription refresh is now accessible
  • Performance improvement during sign in especially for large accounts
  • Improved accessibility on dialog shown when you switch cloud mode
  • If you use the same iLok account across multiple OS users, we now allow copying of cached account data files to speed up login times
  • License count on dialog shown after hiding groups is now correct
  • Fixed a bug where, occasionally, full account data was being fetched on log in even though the cached data was not deleted
  • Fixed bug where new license deposits were not shown in bold on Mac OS Mojave
  • Fixed a couple of crashes occurring occasionally on sign out or unplugging an iLok USB
What is new in iLok License Manager version 5.1?

Version 5.1.0:

  • Support for managed cloud mode which lets you activate/deactivate licenses individually
  • Apple notarization compliance and compatibility with macOS 10.15 Catalina
  • Improved compatibility with the Little Snitch firewall application
  • Improved user experience when launching a product with activation codes
  • Different location items are used for cloud licenses belonging to the signed in user and other users
  • Offline cloud location is shown if a cloud session for the signed in user is open on a different computer

  • Better error messages when you try to move licenses to or from the cloud
  • Vertical splitter cursor is no longer shown because the left locations pane has a fixed width
  • Cloud location on machine A should not display cloud activations if the user has a cloud session open on machine B
